California Sellers' Permit
The California State Board of Equalization requires that exhibitors planning on selling any tangible or normally taxable products from their booth obtain a permit.
These permits are free of charge.
Many of you, who already conduct business within the state of California, may already have a current and valid Sellers Permit. If this is the case, please enter it below.
For those still needing a Permit please do one of the following:
- Fill out form BOE-400-SPA and submit it to the CA State Board of Equalization for approval. You can select either regular (does not expire) or temporary permit.
- If you believe you do not need the CA State Sellers Permit because you do not meet the requirements, please fill out form BOE-410-D and fax it to 206-363-9099, Attention: Events Department. Please note that you must fill out this form if you are exhibiting and not selling. You are required to fill out the form for each show that you are participating in.
The California State Board of Equalization must receive your permit request forms (BOE-400-SPA) BY MAIL OR IN PERSON. No faxed or emailed copies will be accepted. It will take approximately 2 weeks to complete the approval process.
Once you receive your permit number please return to this page and enter it above or e-mail eventsintern@varsitycommunications.com.
If you have any questions or concerns please visit the California State Board of Equalization website at http://www.boe.ca.gov or call 1.800.400.7115 for more information.
